Klára Novotná

My world has always been defined by the unique light and atmosphere of my hometown, Český Krumlov. Growing up amongst its historic architecture, I became captivated by how a single image or the silhouette of a garment could evoke a profound emotion.

After studying Photography and Visual Communications in Prague, I transitioned into the fashion world, not as a maker, but as a storyteller. As a photographer and visual strategist, I understood that the aura and the narrative surrounding a piece are just as vital as the garment itself.

My travels across Europe’s fashion capitals opened my eyes to the incredible strength of independent designers, but also to the lack of a sophisticated space that truly honoured their work. I didn't want to create clothes; I wanted to create a stage for them. Today, I oversee the visual identity and curation of our collection, scouring the continent to find pieces that tell a story of understated elegance. My mission is to provide an inspiring environment where European craftsmanship can be presented with the pride and clarity it deserves.

Eliška Dvořáková

Raised in a small village near Kutná Hora, I learned early on to appreciate the beauty of things that take time. My fascination has never been with trends, but with the 'feel' of a garment - the way a fabric breathes and the quiet honesty of a well-made seam.

With a background in Textile Design from Brno, I spent years in ateliers, learning the language of pattern-cutting and the architecture of clothing. This technical foundation changed how I see fashion. It’s not about perfection; it’s about the integrity of the craft.

In our collective, I see myself as a bridge. My role is to connect the incredible artisans and suppliers we’ve discovered across Europe with the women who will eventually wear their work. I don’t just look for trends; I look for garments that have a soul and a sense of permanence. I believe that shopping online should feel personal and transparent, which is why I focus on sourcing pieces that balance effortless style with a quality you can actually feel. For me, it’s about making sure that when a piece arrives at your door, it feels like it was chosen just for you.

Born and raised in Montijo, a riverside town in Portugal, I grew up with a steady, thoughtful rhythm of life that shaped my approach to everything I do. It taught me that the truest form of luxury is often found in the things that work perfectly, without ever needing to shout for attention.

While Klára and Eliška focus on the soul and the feel of our collection, my role is to make sure your journey with us is effortless. I spent years learning how to connect people across borders, and at Velvet Haven, I’ve used that experience to build the bridge between our European artisans and your home.

I believe that luxury is often found in what you don’t have to worry about. Whether it’s ensuring your favourite piece travels safely from a small studio in Italy to your doorstep, or making our website feel like a quiet, beautiful space to browse, I am here to handle the complexity behind the scenes. For me, success is simple: it’s the moment you open your package and feel that everything was handled with care.

The Journey

Born from a shared obsession with timeless design and the spirit of discovery, the story of Velvet Haven began with a vision to bridge Europe’s finest craftsmanship with the modern British home. What started as a conversation in the heart of Prague grew into a vibrant collective, uniting three distinct voices: the artistic eye of Klára Novotná, the textile expertise of Eliška Dvořáková, and the digital precision of David Romão.

We realised how difficult it was to find a singular, trusted space that brought together independent designers under one roof. We wanted a place where craftsmanship wasn’t just a buzzword, but a promise. To achieve this, we combined our worlds—from the historic streets of Český Krumlov and Kutná Hora to the riverside rhythm of Montijo.

Building Velvet Haven wasn’t about creating a cold, corporate storefront; it was about building a digital home. While Klára curated the visual soul and Eliška obsessed over the integrity of every seam, David architected the invisible threads that connect our European artisans directly to your doorstep. We spent countless nights ensuring that the technology serves the craft, making the complex journey of global logistics feel entirely effortless for you.
